New York Giants wide receiver Jalin Hyatt and rookie Malik Nabers are not shying away from a challenge when it comes to Olympic Gold Medalist Noah Lyles. Lyles, who recently won the “world’s fastest man” title, might have some competition from the NFL speedsters.
In a recent interview with J Bobby from Whistle, Hyatt expressed his confidence in Nabers’ speed, stating, “Oh for sure, for sure. I mean, he fast. I’ve seen him run but he’s not touching Malik, man. I don’t even think he’s touching me, to be honest.”
Hyatt’s bold claim is backed up by some impressive numbers. At the rookie combine two springs ago, Hyatt clocked a 4.40 40-yard dash time, while Nabers ran a blazing 4.35 seconds this year. Comparatively, Lyles’ miles per hour during his Gold-winning race calculated to 22.8632 mph, with Hyatt hitting 18.595 mph and Nabers not far behind at 18.8088 mph.
While these numbers may not directly support Hyatt’s claim, there have been reports of him reaching speeds of up to 24 mph during practice sessions, surpassing Lyles’ max speed. This history of impressive speed performances adds credibility to Hyatt’s belief that Nabers could possibly beat Lyles in a foot race.
The debate of who is the fastest between NFL players and Olympic track stars is always a hot topic. With Hyatt and Nabers throwing their names into the ring, it adds a new dynamic to the conversation. Whether or not they can actually beat Lyles remains to be seen, but the confidence and competitiveness displayed by these athletes is admirable. It would certainly be interesting to see them go head-to-head on the track one day.
