LeSean McCoy, affectionately known as “Shady” by Philadelphia Eagles fans, is set to cement his legacy in the team’s Hall of Fame during the 2024 season. The announcement was made by the organization on Saturday, revealing that McCoy will be honored during halftime of the Week 9 Sunday night game against the Jacksonville Jaguars on Nov. 3.
Drafted by the Eagles in the second round of the 2009 NFL draft, McCoy had an illustrious career in Philadelphia spanning six seasons. During his time with the Eagles, McCoy established himself as the franchise’s all-time rushing yards leader, amassing an impressive 6,792 yards on the ground. His on-field exploits earned him three Pro Bowl selections, including two first-team All-Pro nods. One of McCoy’s most memorable performances came in 2013 during the “Snow Bowl,” where he set the single-game rushing record for the Eagles with 217 yards against the Detroit Lions in snowy conditions.
Following his tenure in Philly, McCoy went on to play four seasons with the Buffalo Bills, where he continued to showcase his talent with three more Pro Bowl appearances. The twilight of McCoy’s career saw him achieve the ultimate goal of winning not one, but two Super Bowls with the Kansas City Chiefs in 2019 and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2020.
In total, McCoy racked up an impressive 11,102 rushing yards and 73 touchdowns over his 12-year NFL career. Additionally, he proved to be a versatile threat out of the backfield with 518 receptions for 3,898 receiving yards and 16 receiving touchdowns.
