In a whirlwind of contract negotiations that saw CeeDee Lamb and Dak Prescott secure their bags, the spotlight now turns to Micah Parsons. The star linebacker, a two-time All-Pro, finds himself in the fourth season of his rookie contract with one year left after Dallas exercised his fifth-year option in April. It was a move that seemed like a no-brainer in a tumultuous offseason filled with tough decisions.
Speaking on GMFB: Overtime, Parsons expressed his desire to showcase his value to the Cowboys’ front office. “For me, I just want to prove to the front office that I’m the best player, and I can do it consistently at an all-time high,” he said. “I want to get Jerry a couple wins. I kinda just want to maximize my value so that they see we’ve got to keep this guy. This guy is great in the locker room, and he wants to be part of this team, and he cares about winning.”
Despite being owed just $5.4 million this season and $21.3 million in 2025, Parsons is determined to show he deserves a payday that reflects his impact on the field. “One thing I haven’t done is be the best player on and off the field consistently,” he admitted. “I think that’s something that I wanted to prove to the front office and to my teammates, that I could be the best player, that leader that they’re looking for to carry this team to win a championship. I think that’s that mission factor that I want to show these guys that I can be. … Just like how we know Dak can be a leader and we know Dak can do all these great things, I kinda want to do that for us defensively.”
As the Cowboys continue to negotiate with Parsons, fans can only wait with bated breath to see if the young linebacker can secure a bag of his own to match the likes of Lamb and Prescott. Stay tuned for more updates on this developing story.
