In a recent press conference, Miami Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel addressed the current status of quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, who suffered a concussion in last Thursday night’s game against the Buffalo Bills. McDaniel stated that there is “not enough information” at this time to make a decision on placing Tagovailoa on injured reserve.
“That’s going to be driven by medical experts,” McDaniel explained to reporters. “Not quite ready to make a distinction on that. … We’ll see in the next couple of days.”
Despite the uncertainty surrounding Tagovailoa’s status, McDaniel emphasized the importance of prioritizing the quarterback’s health above all else. He mentioned that although Tagovailoa was feeling good, it is crucial to await the results of medical examinations before making any definitive decisions.
“He was feeling good. But what does that mean in terms of a medical diagnosis?” McDaniel questioned. “I don’t base my judgments on my interactions with him necessarily as much as hearing the end results of the medical examination, and where he’s at. It was good to see him. I know his teammates were pumped to see him.”
NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport also provided an update on Tagovailoa’s situation, reporting that the quarterback has no plans to retire and has already begun seeking consultation from concussion specialists. As the Dolphins continue to monitor Tagovailoa’s progress and consult with medical professionals, the team remains focused on supporting him throughout his recovery process.
