The Philadelphia Eagles will be without star wide receiver A.J. Brown for an extended period of time, as he deals with a hamstring injury that will sideline him for more than just Monday night’s game against the Atlanta Falcons.
Brown, who was ruled out on Sunday, spoke to ESPN’s Lisa Salters about his expected absence, stating that he anticipates missing a couple of weeks due to the injury. This news comes after Brown was listed as questionable on the injury report on Saturday, only to be downgraded the day before the game. The initial signs of trouble appeared on Friday when Brown felt some tightness during practice.
Despite his impressive start to the season with five receptions for 119 yards and a touchdown in a victory over the Green Bay Packers, Brown’s absence will be keenly felt by the Eagles and quarterback Jalen Hurts. The top-tier wide receiver will now be sidelined for multiple weeks, leaving a significant void in the offense.
Since joining the Eagles in a trade before the 2022 season, Brown has been a key contributor with back-to-back 1,400-yard Pro Bowl campaigns. His absence will require other players to step up and take on larger roles in the passing game.
Wide receiver DeVonta Smith, running back Saquon Barkley, and tight end Dallas Goedert are all expected to see increased targets with Brown out of the lineup. The Eagles will need these players to elevate their performances in order to make up for the loss of their star wideout.
